On Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Melissa Morgan Fine Art located at 73660 El Paseo in Palm Desert, California, hosted a Tea & Talk with Artist Pamela Beck, showcasing her exquisite “Flower Power” series.
Beck, a lifelong writer and collector of contemporary art and fashion photography, had a new vision: to create art at the “intersection of light, color, and dimension. Big on experimentation, for her “Flower Power” series, Beck chooses fresh flowers, from dahlias to chrysanthemums and many others, and soaks them in a variety of color formulas and unique solutions to achieve the hues she desires. Then, she layers the floral beauties on various backgrounds and stunning compositions that she photographs.
“With my ‘Flower Power’ series, I wanted to create a contemporary body of work that is abstract, voluptuous, alive, colorful, and calm. I started looking at flowers differently. It wasn’t going to be about arranging them in vases for a still life. Instead, I wanted to test solutions for the flowers to drink, altering their natural colors and causing some to glow in the dark. Flower Power has become my mad scientist series. I am also experimenting with different materials and formats. It’s an endless and addicting quest. Art can be a made master.”
